TOURS AND ACTIVITIES IN SAN PANCHO- Altavista Petroglyphs

Altavista Petroglyphs Tour

The Altavista Petroglyphs provide a unique and captivating outdoor experience. Discovered by the National Institute of Anthropology and History, these petroglyphs consist of a collection of ancient stone carvings that likely served as a ceremonial center for the Texcoquines people.

Dating back around 1,500 years, the petroglyphs reflect a rich history. Today, the indigenous Huichol community continues to visit the site for various rituals. The self-guided tour culminates at the stunning “King’s Pool,” a naturally formed pool encircled by striking, cube-shaped stones.
